StoreFeeder Sessions 2026: Jon Reeves from Royal Mail on the Future of Ecommerce Delivery

June 11, 2026

At StoreFeeder Sessions 2026, Jon Reeves from Royal Mail shared his view on the key changes shaping ecommerce delivery, fulfilment and parcel logistics in the UK.

In the session, which you can watch in the video above, Jon explored the pressures currently affecting online retailers, including rising costs, changing consumer spending, global trade challenges and growing demand for more sustainable delivery options.

A key focus was the changing delivery market. Jon discussed the rapid growth of marketplaces such as Temu, TikTok Shop and Shein, alongside the increasing importance of out-of-home delivery through lockers, parcel shops, post offices and returns points.

Jon also explained how Royal Mail and Parcelforce are becoming more closely integrated, with a single IT platform and a more joined-up service offering. This allows Royal Mail to support everything from letters to larger parcels more efficiently, while helping route items through the most suitable delivery network.

Out-of-home delivery was another major theme. Royal Mail is investing in lockers, parcel shops and modernised post boxes that can accept parcels and provide proof of posting. These developments are designed to give customers more choice, improve convenience and make ecommerce returns easier.

The session also covered international shipping, including new services for heavier parcels, improved tracking, landed cost tools and preparations for changing overseas tax rules.

Jon finished by highlighting how Royal Mail is using technology, automation and better parcel tracking to improve efficiency across its network. This includes smarter container visibility, robotics and faster trailer unloading, all aimed at reducing costs, improving service quality and giving retailers better visibility over the delivery journey.

Overall, Jon’s StoreFeeder Sessions talk showed how Royal Mail is modernising its delivery network to meet the changing needs of ecommerce retailers, with a strong focus on customer choice, operational efficiency, parcel visibility and sustainability.

Thanks to Jon and Royal Mail for being part of StoreFeeder Sessions 2026.
