Meet Our Team | Lex Garrett
November 16, 2023
Meet our team, has been into sales, marketing, operations, support, HR, and development. But what about the real deal, the team that makes sure that the platform works to optimum levels? This week, we meet Lex Garrett from Testing.
Lex, the stage is yours…
What’s your job title?
Test Lead
What do you do at StoreFeeder?
As the head of the testing team working on StoreFeeder, I'm responsible for ensuring any change to StoreFeeder gets thoroughly tested before it gets put in front of customers.
What problem faced by e-commerce companies do you want to solve?
To be honest, I'm usually more focused on making sure each new feature is of the best quality. But, I think that as businesses get more global, international customs is an issue that could be a barrier for people not to send internationally, and it can be tough to figure out as every country or territory has its own rules and guidelines, but at StoreFeeder we try to make that as easy as possible
What are your past credentials? How do you fit into theStoreFeeder makeup?
I've been a software tester for 12 years, with eight and a half of those being with StoreFeeder. When I started at StoreFeeder, there was no QA team besides myself - I hope our customers who have been with us since those early days have seen an improvement in the quality of our offering since then!
What do you like best about working at StoreFeeder?
Everyone's opinion is listened to. In a lot of companies, directives come down from top executives with no idea about the day-to-day running of the business, and employees just have to go along with it. StoreFeeder is the opposite: everyone, from new starters all the way to the top, is involved and invested in the day-to-day running of the software and what our customers want out of it - and they're willing to take on board ideas from their colleagues about how best to achieve it.
What is the primary benefit a company gets by signing up toStoreFeeder?
In my view, a key one is scalability. As an operation gets bigger, with more stores and marketplaces to manage and more stock and suppliers to keep track of, solutions that are used to work can struggle to keep pace with your growth. With StoreFeeder, we combine all of your operation's parts together so that those factors won't limit your growth.
What values drive you?
Honesty, efficiency, loyalty.
Who’s your favourite band?
I'm going to pick a composer rather than a band - lately, I've really been enjoying the work of Hiroyuki Sawano. He's best known for his work on soundtracks for various video games and anime, but he's a very talented modern composer whose work blends several styles together in a unique way.
If you could have your own TV show, what would it be about?
I love hearing people with a deep knowledge of a field talk about what they're passionate about - so some kind of interview format where guests get to teach the audience about their specialist subject would be cool.
What is your favourite quote?
"It is possible to commit no mistakes and still lose. That is not a weakness; that is life." Captain Jean-Luc Picard.
What do you like to do when you’re not shoulder to thegrindstone at StoreFeeder?
I'm all about the games - video games, board games, table top roleplaying games, collectable card games, miniature wargames - you get the idea.
That’s Lex, there will be another blog next week, and thank you for taking the time to read this one.
